For all of the first years of this third milennium we had had to deal with a United States of America where a complete incompetent man was in charge of things. The problems already started with the first elections. Al Gore was announced the winner, but after long long legal battles Mr. Bush was announced to be the one instead. Not a good sign. Not a good sign at all.

And now here we are. 8 years ahead. And look what he did for his country. No... don't look too long, because you won't see anything. He didn't do anything for his country. Only against. He leaves behind a scarred battlefield with lots of losses.

Has the new era finally arrived? Will Mr. Barack Hussein Obama make the changes that the country needs? That the world needs? I am filled to the brim with hope!! Reading the result after a long night of deep and peaceful sleep, it touches me more than I had thought it would. I'm very happy he has won. And now I'm really curious what this will bring to the world.

He has a chance to open doors that were closed for so long. Chances to interact and cooperate in a way so much more peaceful than before. There are possibilities for joining the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Chances for starting to cooperate with Russia in the WTO. Chances for closing down Guantanamo Bay and other malicious practices like that. Chances for starting constructive dialogues with countries they have refused to talk with for so long. Countries they talked TO, but not WITH. Countries they didn't even communicate with. Do I hear Korea? Do I hear Iran? In the last one (and surrounding areas) he even has an advantage unlike anybody else: his name. It shouldn't matter so much, but it will do no matter what. It's easier to speak with, and accept, somebody who has a friendly sounding name than with somebody who is called, for example, Adolf. Associations do a lot with people. And Barack's surnames are 'Hussein Obama'. The first being the name of the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and the second literally meaning "He who is with us" in Persian (Farsi).
"The prophets descendant, who is with us." Doesn't sound too shabby...

So I will ask myself today, has the new era finally arrived? Everybody hoped for it to arrive when the new milennium struck, but I think there is a good chance we might only just be there now.

Time will tell. Patience, my young padawan friend. Time will tell, as it will do with everything in life. Time will tell...

And now: work! Another bright and shiny day full of energy and spirit and lots of things to do! *whoohoo!*
