Google LIFE

Has any of you ever heard of the LIFE photo archive?
I hadn't.
But now I have, and it's wow.

The LIFE photo archive contains millions of high-quality photos and pictures that date all the way back to 1750. Only a very small number of them have actually been out there in public. Until now. Because with the help of Google they have started to fully digitize the entire archive and make them all freely available on the web.

Check the press release here.

And browse the collection here!

Here's 2 superb images I just dug up from the archive. Can you guess what you're looking at?

I want names! NAMES!!!
:-))

Only about 20% of the archive is online now. I'll be spending a lot of my time during the next months, digging through them images, watching and learning as the digital archive expands in size.

THIS IS SUPERB!!!!!

First one is St. Pauls cathedral, viewed from the ruins from a German bomb-raid, and the second one is the Blue Mosque in Instanbul.

well the first is a WOII bombing site... Knowing you it's London or Rotterdam. But since that church is not in Rotterdam, lol it's London :)

The second is for sure the blue mosque of Istanbul :)
